Huckabee Addtions

As was reported by KTIV in Sioux City and picked up over at Krusty Konservative, 2006 Lt. Gov nominee Bob Vander Plaats signed on as chairman of Mike Huckabee's Iowa organization. Vander Plaats was a failed gubernatorial candidate in 2002, he was rumored to be interested in the state chairmanship but never pulled the trigger. He also is rumored to be a candidate against Tom Harkin in 2008. Vander Plaats is a significant addition for Huckabee as he has a wide network of loyalists in Western Iowa, dutch enclaves throughout the state (like Pella), and elsewhere. Vander Plaats is entrenched in the far right of the party and this gives Huckabee a big boost in his quest to be the CCA.

Danny Carroll, former House Speaker Pro Tempore, who lost his re-election bid to Eric Palmer this fall, also joined Huckabee's Iowa organization.

Ann Coulter backs Mitt Romney, speaks on McCain and Rudy. Only on the O'Reilly Factor.

Vander Platts supporting Huckabee was about the worst kept secret of this campaign season.

Cooler, you need to get your facts straight. BVP "never pulled the trigger" to run for state chair?! I'm on SSC and he called me twice asking for my support. Basically he pulled out because he couldn't get the votes. Kinda like he did with Nussle.

I saw the KTIV interview and heard Bob say that "he hoped people wouldn't support Huckabee because Bob Vanderplaats was on the team." No chance of that Bob! This guy's ego is unbelieveable, I sish he'd just go away, he's killing the GOP.
