Heckle Me This

We wanted to embed this video but can't find it on youtube. You'll have to deal with the link. Here's Romney laying the smackdown on the bigot in Florida. Kudos to Mitt for the strong response.

But he's just substituting bigotry against mormons for bigotry against atheists.

What's funny is that there is NO mainstream media coverage of this . . . thanks for covering it here CC.

If Barak had been heckled and called unfit to be our POTUS because he was Black, or Leiberman because he was Jewish, or Hillary because she was a woman it would have been on every show and discussed by pundits ad nauseum.

I guess it's still viewed pretty acceptable to throw around slights at Mormons?

Am I wrong here?

Apparently Romney doesn't know his own religion very well.

When are you people going to get it that we don't want a mormon for president. It's going to get a lot worse for Romney, the protestants will be very vocal.

CNN covered it, twice in an hour and half.

How weird is it that Dix is supporting Thompson? Doesn't most of his former staff work for McCain and didn't Victory support Mike Whalen?

Obviously, Romney does know his religion. Read the comments in the link that you posted for the facts. Georgey-Boy needs to reveal who his "Mormon" source is.

Dix couldn't even get elected chair of the state party - I'm sure he is going to be a HUGE help to TomTom!

Jeff--

I saw CNN discussing the heckler and showing the video this evening, so I think it's inaccurate to say there's been a media blackout.

When Lieberman ran for POTUS in 2004, I don't recal him being heckled by any anti-Semites, but he was told in no uncertain terms by some voters that they wouldn't vote for any non-Christian. I remember reading it in The Hotline, but I don't remember the MSM talking about it or showing videos of such encounters on TV.

You don't have to look very far at all to find where Mormons believe that Jesus will return to Independence, Missouri. The city actually talks about it on their own website!

See below:

In as much as most of the early Mormon church history occurred in or near Independence and Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of the Mormon faith, prophesied in 1831 that Independence would be the location of Jesus Christ's return, Independence has held great significance for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS).

At the Mormon Visitors Center, you can hear about the important role the Mormons played in Independence's early history as well as see rare artifacts, exhibits and unique artwork related to the LDS Church. Located at 937 W. Walnut, the Visitors Center is open 9 am to 9 pm daily. Call 816-833-3466 for more information.

7:15, obviously you and Romney both need a refresher course in Mormon theology.

How was Romney's answer strong, Cooler? Rather than addressing the man, he laughed at him. Rather than defending that he, indeed, is a man of faith, he said a man of faith should be leading the country.

What about other religions like Scientology? I wouldn't want a Scientologist leading the country.
