Gilmore!

Jim Gilmore, known for his "No Car Tax" pledge when running for Governor of Virginia officially declared his candidacy for President yesterday. A former chair of the Republican National Committee, Gilmore has made some inroads into Iowa. As we have reported in the past he does have some Iowa advisors including Polk Co. Activist Dale Blair.

Gilmore's focus is on becoming the CCA and filling up the perceived vacuum on the right in this race. Gilmore was one of the early supporters of George W. Bush's 2000 campaign. He also headed a commission Congress appointed in 1999 to investigate the threat terrorism posed to the nation.

Essentially Gilmore's objective is to prove through organization or fundraising that he's the candidate to the right of the Big 3 with the best chance to win. It's a tall order, but certainly within reach.

Not an endorsement but don't underestimate Jim Gilmore. He is smart and mainstream conservative. He's light years better than anyone the Democrats have.

I agree with the yawns. Everybody and his uncle is going to try and become President.

Yeah, everyone and their uncle, like that one guy who is running on the weight loss and pro-illegal immigration platform?

It's so Gilmore still shows up to Polk County events...

....yawn.

2:49 does not understand the GIANT percentage of votes that happens in Polk. Almost double the next largest county. One of our major major errors in statewide elections is thinking you don't need to win Polk to win.

Now, about those results again. It would behoove all of the snottier staffers to get over themselves and work on building success WITH the county parties rather than being competitive with them.

You ridicule or ignore Polk at your own peril...which you already know. The Dems know that too.

Gee, if we can just stop worrying about those pesky corrupt south side democrats and really CAMPAIGN on issues like THE SOUTH SIDE DEMOCRATS ARE CORRUPT - msybe we'd have another congressman in Washington and a Governor in the Mansion.

Next.

Huh? I think you're mistaken. I can't find any other story saying that Gilmore has officially declared. What's your source on this...????

He's formed an exploratory committeee, but that's entirely different from "officially declaring"...
