McCain Blogging

McCain wrote this blog entry on Powerline today about the necessary strategy for Iraq....

Here's an excerpt.

We have made many mistakes since 2003, and these will not be easily reversed. But from everything I witnessed on my most recent visit, I believe that success is still possible. Even greater than the costs incurred thus far and in the future are the catastrophic consequences that would ensue from our failure in Iraq. By surging troops and bringing security to Baghdad and other areas, we will give the Iraqis the best possible chance to succeed. Our national security, and that of our friends and allies, compels us to make our best effort to prevail, and to do it now.

If the democrats are successful in their attempt to have us lose the war, we will no longer be the shining city on the hill. We will no longer be the safe haven that brings so many immigrants, whether legal or illegal to our shores. We will no longer be the shining example of courage and strength that we've always been.

No - the Democrats wish us to be seen as weak and unable to protect others from harm.

If we can't protect others, we will no longer be able to protect ourselves.

I have deep worry and dread about our collective near term future.

I just don't understand why the democrats don't understand what is really going on out there and how much danger we are ALL in, even the French.

Listening to Ted Kennedy causes me embarrassment as an American. The loathesome face of 21st Century appeasement is truly animated in his every feature.

My God, why have we abandoned the rhetorical battlefield and unilaterally underarmed our rhetoric? Ted Kennedy is not a patriotic American articulating an opposition position. After a lifetime of horribly deceitful private behavior, in the end he is revealed publically as that which he has always been, nothing more than a defeatest who has engaged in the most depraved of anti-American propoganda that aids our enemy in the field. He uses the same words that he used about Vietnam and the Reagan Cold War efforts.

Why are we so afraid to call him out?
