Politico Writes About The Romney Rehab Plan

We at the Caucus Cooler found this article to be very interesting. Ok, ok...here's a sample:
"Mitt Romney may be low in the polls right now, but he is a man with a plan, a plan to make him the Republican nominee for president.

Though he is at only 4 percent in national polls, The Politico has learned that in the coming weeks and months, he will:

--- Game the system. Romney intends to take advantage of the various and complicated rules governing the primaries"

Go read the rest of the article.

Does this mean he is reaching a flat line right now?

I think it means he's trending up, and McCain is trending down. I think before long it will be a race between Mitt Romney and America's mayor.

The FEC reports will be interesting.

According to the article he's putting a lot of energy into making sure he's successful in the straw poll...

Wrong Murph,

It means after running ads, a bought straw poll and a weekly change in policy positions Romney is still gaining no where.

I'll admit, it's early and there is time... but will it be enough?

I'd be surprised if he makes it to Michigan Primary.

Murph:

You are right. What would these anon haters have Mitt do? Just lay down for an obviously faltering McCain campaign, or let Rudy cruise to the nomination on fame and nothing else?

The guy with the plan is the guy you want to be President. High poll numbers are nice, but not critical. Money is key. Wins are key. High poll numbers are a luxury for now.

Mitt has a plan, and it appears he's got the balls and the wherewithal to make it happen.

Talk all you want. And good luck.

All I am saying is, going for broke this early, mean you are bleeding.

Does this mean the Romney campaign will be bringing college kids to all of the primary states after Iowa?

McCain '08 = Lieberman '04

Both are relatively liked by the general public, but hated by party-activists. I bet that McCain will end up being as much of a non-issue as Lieberman was in 2004.

Romney '08 = Dean '04

Look, someone's got to say it. The campaign is burning through money as fast as Dean's. He can't get into the double-digits and is coasting on hype and media attention. Their campaign plan seems to be to bus in hundreds of college students to influence straw polls while spending hundreds of thousands of dollars per event.

Romney will end up getting around 10% in the NH primaries and IA caucuses and everyone will be just as bewildered by the collapse of the straw campaign as they were by Dean's collapse. My bet is that Giuliani takes first, Brownback takes second, and Hunter or Gilmore or someone fights it out for third.

Like it or not, McCain is the frontrunner. We all know it.

Lying to yourself is like dropping acid - it gives you a euphoric feeling but comes back to bite you in the end.

Fred Thompson is considering entering the race.

If he does, he'll be in 2nd place within a few months. As a former procecutor himself, he'll take out Rudy in no time.

Fred is the conservative we are all looking for.
