Rasmussen Reports: GOP Candidate Brownback Just Five Points Behind Clinton

Is anyone surprised by Brownback's strength?

"Republican Sam Brownback The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey gauging general-election support for Republican Senator Sam Brownback shows him trailing Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton among likely voters by the narrow margin of just five percentage points. It’s Clinton 46% Brownback 41%.

However, Democratic Senator Barack Obama leads Senator Brownback by the much wider margin of 49% to 34%."

Good for him, though I think it's more Hillary starting to piss people off with stunts like her southern drawl than anything Brownback has donw.

Brownback is a much stronger candidate then Romney, who was down 10 points to Hillary.

Additionally, conservatives don't like McCain and social conservatives certainly don't like Rudy. Brownback is the most well-rounded candidate we can put up in '08

Brownback is well-rounded? How do you figure?

He's barely had any job other than working in government. He was converted to Catholicism by a leading member of Opus Dei (that ought to scare anyone).

He is as boring as any public figure in this race.

And he would lose a general election by a wider margin than either the Goldwater or McGovern defeats.

The problem is, Brownback would have no chance of winning the general election...

You clearly aren't up to date on Brownbackspeak. According to Brownbackspeak, since Brownback is pro-life it means that he is:

Conservative on every other issue.
The only pro-life person on the face of the planet.
Experienced at everything.

You keep forgetting this. Brownback is pro-life and therefore perfect on all issues and the most experienced candidate who ever lived, so just shut up with anything to the contrary.

Catholic-bashers like 12:32 have a hard time admitting that another candidate is better than theirs.

Where the hell is the other mega-conservative - Huckabee? I think he better get busy, Brownback is plucking up all of the conservatives.
