Caught in a Webb
Holy Crap!
According to the most recent WSJ/Zogby poll, Jim Webb leads George Allen by 1 point. Now we at the Cooler understand that Zogby has been known to have some skewed results in the past, but this is the 2nd poll in a week that shows the race within the margin of error. And to the folks who will say ZOGBY IS BIASED TOWARDS DEMOCRATS, well take a look at the Jim Talent number (Talent +5).
Now, Allen has a huge cash advantage over Webb, as we have noted here in the past. And this race will likely come around for him. But this certainly accentuates our point below that Allen's Presidential ambitions have taken a beating during the macaca fall-out.
We're sure that Chad over at Commonwealth Conservative will have a refutation of this poll up at some point and we'll link to it when this happens.

That's a 12 point nose dive in 1 month. ouch!
Lucky for Romney that he is not currently up for re-election and have the media hype up the "tar-baby" he found himself in. We'll have to see if these racists comments will hurt both Allen and Romney with their Presidential aspirations.
Now that this race is closer, does Webb now get huge dollars from the DNC and Democratic Presidential PACs (other PACs)?
Could be interesting. I really hope Allen pulls it out. Though it would be nice to totally wipe out one of the top-teir Romney competitors, I care too much about maintaining a GOP majority in the Senate. However, if Allen just squeaks out a win with that money advantage as an incumbent in a Red State then he won't have any momentum for a presidential bid.
If you were that confident about your candidate, you would not even think about "wiping out one of the top-tier Romney competetors."
We should all be hoping the Republicans win House and Senate races, not something two years down the road.
The phrase "Majority Leader Harry Reid" is enough to make us shudder.
To reiterate my own blog.
Allen's comments weren't serious, he was obviously trying to be a smart ass. Biden's were dumb, and more repetitive.
But Romney's use of tar baby couldn't even be fairly misconstrued in the context in which he used it.
